Undercooled
Mar. 3rd, 2009 10:00 pmWhile I'm going on and on, how cool is this?
It would be worth watching for the sheer WTF factor, even if it didn't turn out to actually be an awesome song. Which it is. :)

Art class and things
Feb. 3rd, 2009 07:51 amClass last night was pretty good. When I walked in, everyone was hanging up their homework on the board. I was relieved to see that my self-portrait wasn't at the bottom of the skill ladder among the class members. There are two or three people I feel competitive toward. That's enough to keep me from getting lazy, but not so many that I feel overwhelmed.
The topic of class yesterday seemed to be "drawing cardboard boxes from various and sundry angles." I was impressed with his actually teaching us *techniques* to improve our drawings. Everyone's in-class exercises got noticeably better during the class period. I now feel more comfortable drawing still-lifes. Which is good, since our homework is to draw one with five objects.
In other news, last night I dreamed that Doctor Who 4 was fighting little Daleks in my grandma's basement, and I was helping him. He was fighting them by flinging rubber squeaky dog toys in their direction. They were fighting back with photon bullets.
Thee end.

Nov. 1st, 2008 06:56 pmWhile I'm posting pictures of green-and-brown things, here is a picture of the wall rack I was painting first thing this morning. I was looking for that brass leaf paint for this, but never found it.
I bought this rack yesterday after work on one of my "It's Friday and I'm going to blot out the horrible memory of work by going shopping" trips. I found it at Ross for $4.49 because it was shelfworn. And UGLY. Before I put color on it, it was sort of......taupe. :P Not that I claim it's all TASTEFUL or anything, but I like it much better now. Tra la. And now I have a place of honor or whatever to put my Kwan Yin statue.

I soooo wish I still had my handlebar mustache icon.
This is a great comic I saw in the illustrators community:

Here are some audio files from choir yesterday:
Harpsichord:
-Froberger: Toccata X
Choir, Harpsichord, Theorbo & Viola da Gamba:
-Monteverdi: Cantate Domino a 6
-Anerio: Missa della battaglia: Agnus Dei
Choir, Congregation & Organ:
-Offertory Hymn: Pange Lingua
Sorry about the miserable recording quality...I'm gradually figuring out how to do this!

Aug. 29th, 2008 08:01 amWell, the first edition of the Great GaSP Postcard Project is off to the printer. :D
The weather is soggy, soggy, soggy today. I'm finishing up some office duties before I bravely venture forth through the sogginess out to the greenhouses to plant some more pansies. Maybe I'll take my camera with me.
Probably tonight the second disc of Serial Experiments Lain will arrive from Netflix. It's pretty bleak, but the art is incredible and the story is set in Creepy Neuroworld.
And now, here's another picture of my beautiful new watch, showing the insides. The back is cut away with a glass window, too. :)

May. 20th, 2008 09:24 amWork continues unabated.
Meanwhile, my subconscious mind is working on art projects. I hope. I have this big idea about hand-drawing some background images for websites, making comic books, etc. Maybe I'll start with a webcomic, says I. Tra la. Who knows. Nobody would read it because my ideas are all really, really undeveloped and not funny to anyone but me.
And now back to my regularly scheduled work and trying to sketch on scrap paper bits underneath my notebook when no one is looking.

And in materialistic news, I has boughten an iPod. It's the littlest, cheapest one there is, about $45. The point is that I wanted to listen to my awesome muzak collection while away from my home computer, so that I can block out the awful Lite Radio Station they play out in the greenhouses. Hopefully it will be delivered soon. *sigh*
In honor of Official Boredom Day, I will take time out of my busy schedule to type the following entry while looking in the opposite direction from my keyboard:
My boss has tekun up smoking ciags again. He laevaes the giant burning scigar encs all over the picmic tagble and wanders awauy for hours. Also, I may change my name to Baggy McFaxmachine. Or not.
